JONES BROS

Biography

Jones bros was formed in late '92 for some new years eve party gigs. Jone on vocals, Time Schleifer on bass, Okko Laru on drums, and Ile B. Hudson on guitar.
Things started to expand immediately and couple of months later keyboardist
Tommy Eriksson  joined the band.
Jones bros came well known over the surroundings of  Helsinki  of their energic live acts and  songs they played. The set was including numbers from Tom Petty & Heartbreakers,Eagles, Journey, Cheap Trick  and some other American bands.
During '93-'95 The Jone's Bros were playing approximately 150 gigs a year round Finland. The original guitarist Ile B. Hudson was replaced with a guitar ace V-P Molsa on late '94 and Tommy Eriksson left the band in June '95 since then the lineup has been stable and unchanged.
The first single " Red hot dancing fever " was released in march '95  and  was a minor radio hit . During summer '95 the band played lots of gigs and they released " The way of the liar " single  which got a good response from the contemporary radio stations ( not included on the first album ) .

The first album " The Jone's Bros " was released in October '95 and again got a good response on the radio stations and in the press. The financial difficulties with the record company Also Records were mirrored straight into the promotion of  the first album and  without a proper promotion the album did not get  so wide attention on the record markets in Finland. Still some people believed in the bands potentiality and the Jone's Bros were visiting in London in February '96 . The Jone's bros were playing few gigs in London's clubs incl. Bottomline, Roadhouse and Redback and got an offer to do a live album at the BBC studios.
After a couple of months negotiating, schedule checking etc. the band come to conclusion that for a second album it would be better to do another full studio album instead of a live. But deal is still on and the next possibility would be in the autumn '97.

The 2nd album " Dirty movies "was recorded during nov.'96 - feb. '97 in Captain's Place studios in Helsinki . The band has grown as a unit and the sound is more raw than before. The spring tour '97 started on easter and last couple of months including appx.30 gigs around Finland. " Dirty movies " got some airplay  with a single " Burn the bridges down. But did not gained significant chart positions. Few months after Dirty movies tour drummer Okko Laru resigned with the band because of his session and studio musician carrier. He was replaced with an old friend  Aki Vuorensyrjä who played drums on minialbum " 4 Sides of the story" . Next movement was replacing guitar player V-P Mölsä  with  new guitarist. V-P wanted to concentrade in his Himalayan Mount-Everest climbing project. He almost made it ! They had to turn back 200 meters before the top for the bad weather conditions. So he might be the worlds highest rised guitarist literally.

Eventually during 2003 the lineup settled down with a young talent Karo Sampela on drums, Jone's old friend from the '80s Sami Virtanen on guitar, Time still on the bass and Jone on vocals. It was time to start up with a new album project. Recording took 2 years and finding a publisher etc. one year more. But on early 2006 the new album " Old school " was released. It seems that the story of Jones Bros still continues and goes strong for this almost 15 years old band. And like Jone says : " Hey ,14 years with at least 70 gigs a year is quite rare thing nowadays. Most of the bands don't live 2 years now. We do it with an old school way when the bands continued making music no matter what happened on the marketing side. To me music always comes first "

2013 is the official 20th anniversary year for Jones Bros.
